Prague: A City of 100 Spires

  • Morning arrival at the Prague Airport, including assistance with arrival formalities.

  • Drive into Prague and ascend Metronome Hill for an Introduction to the city and its stories.

  • Guided visit through Castle Hill, including the Hradcany Castle, seat of the Bohemian Kings and Roman emperors and the St. Vitus Cathedral - Additional Possibility for Returnees: Visit to the Strahov Monastery, with its thousands of new and ancient books and magnificently painted ceilings in the Theological and Philosophical Halls. 

  • Walk down the Golden Lane and stop at House 22, once used by Franz Kafka as a writing hideaway, for an introduction to Kafka in Prague.

  • Cross the famed Charles Bridge and introduction to the Prague Old Town.

  • Check in to hotel, followed by time for rest and relaxation.

  • Early evening introduction to the Prague Old Town followed by free time

  • Festive Welcome dinner.

A Place of Disaster, A Place of Hope

  • Breakfast at hotel.

  • The Jews and Prague: A 1,000 Year Story, with Professor Jiří Holý, of the Charles University for an introduction to the Jewish story of Prague.

  • Guided visit through the Jewish Museum of Prague, including the Spanish, Alt-Neu, Maisels, Klaus and Pinkas Synagogues, and concluding with the Hevra Kadisha building and the Old Jewish Cemetery. 

  • Lunch on your own en route.

  • Drive to Terezin, about an hour from Prague for a guided visit to the Czech village whose residents were evicted during the Holocaust so it could be transformed into Theresienstadt, a detention center for Jews who were destined for extermination camps.  Visit the Terezin fortress, the new Terezin Museum, and the Hidden Synagogue, accompanied by a survivor of the camp, (pending confirmation).

  • Return to Prague.

  • Free time for exploration and Shabbat preparation.

  • Attend Kabbalat Shabbat services at Beit Simcha, the Reconstructionist community in Prague.

  • Festive Shabbat Dinner with Beit Simcha members.

Prague: The Golem in a Once Jewish City

  • Breakfast at hotel.

  • Optional Sabbath services or free time for personal exploration.

  • Afternoon Options – Choose One For the Group:

      “Prague in the footsteps of Kafka,” guided Walk Through Central Prague, based on the life and times of Franz Kafka.


  • Prague in the Footsteps of the Maharal’s Golem, beginning at the Alt-Neu Synagogue, use the Story of the Golem to Explore the City and Jewish life in the days of the Maharal,  Rabbi Judah ben Bezalel Loew, and how the Golem became such a significant part of Jewish and Praguian Lore.


  • Free time with optional visits to some of Prague’s Galleries and Museums.

  • Free time to wander around the Prague Old Town.

  • Dinner on your own.
