Three Days in Berlin with Rabbi Dr. Meir Soloveichik, including:

  • A discussion of German Jewish History from the age of the Rishonim to the Twentieth Century, while visiting Berlin's Jewish Museum

  • From Mendelsson to Rav Hirsch to Hildesheimer Seminary: Orthodoxy and Modernity in Germany, a lecture with Rabbi Soloveichik

  • From Marduch and Ishtar to Mordechai and Esther: The Most Forgotten Part of the Purim Story, a shiur during a visit to the Pergemon Museum

  • Spend an afternoon with Rabbi Soloveichik exploring Berlin's Gemaldegalleri and one of the greatest collections of Rembrandt paintings which  feature Tanakh scenes, as Rabbi Soloveichik delves into their connection to the Tanakh and what new insights they have to offer to the Torah's stories.

  • Visit the Sansoucci Palace of Fredrick the Great and hear Rabbi Soloveichik discuss " The Jews of the German Enlightenment: The Jewish experience in the age of Frederick

With additional sites and meetings, including

  • An evening walk with Rabbi Soloveichik to the Brandenberg Gate and the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Germany

  • Possible visits to the Altes Museum (Old Museum) with its Classical Antique Collections, the Neues Museum (New Museum) with its Pre-History and Egyptian Collection and the Altes Nationalgalerie (Old National Gallery)

  • Visit the site of the Potsdam Conference, where Harry Truman informed Stalin of the American atomic bomb

  • Visit the Villa at Wansee where the Final Solution was devised and meet with Norbert Kampe, the museum director to hear the unique way in which he and others transformed the Villa into a center of instruction

  • Meet with the leadership of the Berlin Jewish community

The group is flying to Amsterdam on Wednesday night, June 28
